Consultancy roles in Aviation – Safety, Economics, Aviation policy and Airports
Due to dramatic growth: actively recruiting right now!
Helios is an aviation consultancy, focusing on air traffic management and airports. We are a subsidiary of Egis, a global infrastructure group, with offices in Farnborough, Dubai and Slovakia and clients all over the world. We work for major airports, air navigation service providers, industry and governments improving the efficiency and safety of operations and conducting policy and strategy analysis.
Right now we are looking for recruits with a range of expertise and experience to help us meet our growing order book. The organisation can be very fast-paced and you will succeed here if you are equally ambitious. If you are used to large, process-driven organisations then we're probably not for you (unless of course you are ready to escape from one!). However, if being creative, flexible, dynamic and proactive is more your style, then we want to hear from you!
In return we offer competitive salaries and a range of benefits including discretionary bonus, pension, private healthcare, life insurance, in house training, a great work/life balance and an opportunity to travel the world.
We have a flat collegiate structure and work in small project teams where our philosophy is to encourage you manage your own career and time. You'll have far more autonomy than our competitors offer and in return we ask that you deliver amazing work and ensure that our clients keep coming back to us (currently 80% of our work is repeat business!).
Safety and security risk consultants
Applicants should have a track record of leading or conducting risk management activities in a safety critical industry (aviation preferred, but other modes of transport, petrochemicals, nuclear, etc. welcome). Candidates must be knowledgeable in safety management practices such as those defined in ICAO Annex 19 or similar industry standards. For example, conducting safety risk assessments, implementing new safety occurrence reporting and monitoring processes, and conducting safety investigations and audits. Experience in applying these practices in an operational and/or technical domain is essential. Broad understanding of risk management techniques applied beyond the safety domain into areas such as security assessments and cyber security would be considered advantageous but are not essential. This includes experience developing or applying the principles of ISO27001.
The key requirement will be that candidates can demonstrate the flexibility to transfer sound operational and/or technical knowledge into a consultancy role where influence, stakeholder engagement and project management skills become more important as measures of success. Exemplary written and verbal communication skills allied with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills go without saying – we crunch a lot of data, we craft many reports for widespread, often public, consumption, and we deliver presentations to the most senior of audiences, so it needs to be right.
Our organisation can be very fast-paced and you will succeed here if you are equally ambitious. If you are used to large, process-driven organisations then we're probably not for you (unless of course you are ready to escape from one!) However, if being creative, flexible, dynamic and proactive is more your style, then we want to hear from you!
We would expect our new recruits to be able to be based at our Head Office in Farnborough or our Middle East office in Dubai.
We expect a competitive response to this advert and so candidates should demonstrate their interest by sending a cover letter and their CV to [email protected] with the title of the role they are applying for in the email header.
For an informal conversation about these roles please feel free to contact Huw Ross on +44 (0)7747 788 256.

Graduates – Analyst roles

Our current staff have backgrounds ranging from air transport management, engineering, geography, maths, psychology, economics to life sciences.
You will be supported by a tailored development programme and an opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by industry experts. Over time, we'll help you to develop deep functional knowledge and consultancy skills to win new business.
The work you do will be varied: at times you will be working on highly analytical projects requiring data analysis capabilities and other times you'll be working in regulatory environments where you'll develop your political awareness, reasoning and report writing skills.
You'll expect to travel, particularly within Europe, for project meetings with our clients. Opportunities for extended placements are also available for those who are keen to experience different cultures.
You should expect to be ready for promotion to a consultant role within 2 years providing you meet our performance criteria.

Second Jobbers – Consultancy Roles
You may currently be working in a technical, operational or consultancy environment and be ready to spread your wings and have different experiences. Your current role is to some extent not relevant to us – we are far more concerned about the transferable skills that you can bring to us. Those skills are excellence at problem solving, analysis, communication, client engagement, stake holder management, team working, presenting and writing.
You might want to broaden your experience to develop your strategic and client facing skills. You might be frustrated that you're not getting enough variety in your work or you may be itching for more client exposure and to travel the world.
You must have excellent report writing skills, have charisma and energy and enjoy problem solving and analysis whether in a team or crunching data in a spreadsheet.
In return, very quickly we'll offer you a chance to work directly with clients and senior industry experts within our company, to project manage your own projects and to coach and mentor our more junior staff.
We expect a competitive response, and so candidates should demonstrate their interest by sending a cover letter and their CV to [email protected] with the title of the role they are applying for in the email header.
