Consultancy roles in Aviation – Safety, Economics, Aviation policy and Airports
Due to dramatic growth: actively recruiting right now!
Helios is an aviation consultancy, focusing on air traffic management and airports. We are a subsidiary of Egis, a global infrastructure group, with offices in Farnborough, Dubai and Slovakia and clients all over the world. We work for major airports, air navigation service providers, industry and governments improving the efficiency and safety of operations and conducting policy and strategy analysis.
Right now we are looking for recruits with a range of expertise and experience to help us meet our growing order book. The organisation can be very fast-paced and you will succeed here if you are equally ambitious. If you are used to large, process-driven organisations then we're probably not for you (unless of course you are ready to escape from one!). However, if being creative, flexible, dynamic and proactive is more your style, then we want to hear from you!
In return we offer competitive salaries and a range of benefits including discretionary bonus, pension, private healthcare, life insurance, in house training, a great work/life balance and an opportunity to travel the world.
We have a flat collegiate structure and work in small project teams where our philosophy is to encourage you manage your own career and time. You'll have far more autonomy than our competitors offer and in return we ask that you deliver amazing work and ensure that our clients keep coming back to us (currently 80% of our work is repeat business!).
Graduates – Analyst roles
We recruit from the best Universities and candidates should have a minimum upper second class degree in a subject which demonstrates numeracy and analytical capability. Our current staff have backgrounds ranging from air transport management, engineering, geography, maths, psychology, economics to life sciences.
You will be supported by a tailored development programme and an opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by industry experts. Over time, we'll help you to develop deep functional knowledge and consultancy skills to win new business.
The work you do will be varied: at times you will be working on highly analytical projects requiring data analysis capabilities and other times you'll be working in regulatory environments where you'll develop your political awareness, reasoning and report writing skills.
You'll expect to travel, particularly within Europe, for project meetings with our clients. Opportunities for extended placements are also available for those who are keen to experience different cultures.
You should expect to be ready for promotion to a consultant role within 2 years providing you meet our performance criteria.
To apply email a cover letter explaining your suitability to work with us and a copy of your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org stating 'Analyst' in the email header.
Closing date 31st October 2017.
Second Jobbers – Consultancy Roles
You may currently be working in a technical, operational or consultancy environment and be ready to spread your wings and have different experiences. Your current role is to some extent not relevant to us – we are far more concerned about the transferable skills that you can bring to us. Those skills are excellence at problem solving, analysis, communication, client engagement, stake holder management, team working, presenting and writing.
You might want to broaden your experience to develop your strategic and client facing skills. You might be frustrated that you're not getting enough variety in your work or you may be itching for more client exposure and to travel the world.
You must have excellent report writing skills, have charisma and energy and enjoy problem solving and analysis whether in a team or crunching data in a spreadsheet.
In return, very quickly we'll offer you a chance to work directly with clients and senior industry experts within our company, to project manage your own projects and to coach and mentor our more junior staff.
Senior Consultancy roles: Safety, Economics, Aviation policy and Airports - up to circa £75k plus benefits
As a senior member of the company we'll need you to be committed to expanding the company's work through delivery of high quality consultancy and enthusiasm for new business. Candidates must be as comfortable selling as they are delivering work. Experience in winning consultancy business is advantageous but not essential for all of these roles. Influence and gravitas in these client facing roles is a pre requisite and you will be an exemplary ambassador for the company and all that we do. Excellent written as well as verbal communication skills and exceptional analytical and problem solving skills go without saying – we write a lot of reports for widespread reading, deliver presentations to senior audiences and crunch a lot of data!
We are not necessarily looking for these senior recruits to be based at our Head Office in Farnborough – the right candidate is more important than their location and a base in mainland Europe could be an advantage.
With a strong track record in safety assessments applicants must have a proven track record in either ATM or ATC environments whether in a consultancy, military, operational, airport or ATC role. Candidates must be knowledgeable in safety management, emerging technologies and human factors methodologies. The key requirement will be that candidates can demonstrate the flexibility to transfer sound technical knowledge into a consultancy role where influence, stakeholder engagement and project management skills become more important as measures of success.
A proven track record of success in either airport consultancy or operations. Candidates should be knowledgeable in airside/airfield operations.
Either with a formal qualification in economics or an equivalent track record in economic analyses in the aviation or wider regulatory sector. Candidates may currently be in consultancy or planning, modeling or analytical roles.
Aviation Policy Consultant
We are looking to recruit an expert with previous experience of working on the development and implementation of aviation policy and legislation in the European environment (EC or national). Suitable candidates may have experience of working on projects in the policy domain with institutions, service providers or trade associations.
We expect a competitive response, and so candidates should demonstrate their interest by sending a cover letter and their CV to email@example.com the title of the role they are applying for in the email header.
