What a year it's been….
I'm sure I won't be the only person glad to say goodbye to 2020 and to welcome a new year!
So, what will 2021 bring? Hopefully, the widespread rollout of safe and effective vaccines and the reopening of borders with fast testing regimes, all leading to the rebuilding of the aviation sector. The big question is how different it will be when it emerges: who will survive the economic impact of the measures taken to tackle Covid … and what opportunities for fast-tracking innovation and a sustainable future will have been grasped?
While governments grapple with economic support and stimulus packages, we share our thoughts with you here on drone integration - an area of innovation that is undeterred (possibly accelerated) by Covid-19. Indeed 'future flight' and urban air mobility is a topic we have been investigating from a safety perspective for UK Research and Innovation and which you can read about on our blog page.
Picking up on the digital theme, in our second article Andy Boff highlights current cybersecurity risks, and introduces a new service for UK airports as well as a new colleague and cyber expert. Also in Hot Air! you'll find more news items covering our work and publications in relation to GNSS.
In our final article, I pick up my digital pen again to share some thoughts on managing change during this period of unprecedented uncertainty.
We've all missed seeing clients, colleagues, family and friends face-to-face this year and have suffered from virtual meeting fatigue. But virtual platforms have helped us to stay connected, and shown us different ways to work. Although we can't see you in person – check out our Zoom Christmas card for our video greeting.
Season's greetings, stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you in person in 2021!
With best wishes,
