Wisdom and common sense
"To grow and succeed in the digital age, especially in a data-intensive industry like aerospace, companies need … to free themselves from the tyranny of data and know when to stop reading a spreadsheet and start telling a story. Artificial intelligence is no substitute for emotional intelligence. Knowledge gained from data is no substitute for wisdom and common sense". The words of Antoine Gélain (writing for InsideMRO), and I reproduce them here to remind us that innovation, and the disruption that can often follow it, no matter how exciting, still needs human insight in order to succeed. In each of the articles in this ON AIR! you will find the promise of new technology or new ideas tempered with the reality of the questions they raise and the challenges they pose.
Whereas our previous newsletter explored innovation and disruption on the ground, this edition looks at innovation in the air, with articles on Blockchain, the relationship between regulation and innovation in terms of SES, and how space-based CNS might change how ATM is delivered across the globe. I hope you will find in them some nuggets of wisdom, and a dose of common sense!
Lastly, I invite you to visit us on our stand #335 at World ATM Congress in Madrid 6-8 March, where we will be happy to exchange views on the future of ATM, and how data and innovation might play a part.
With best wishes
